Adopt a holistic approach to your health

You’ve become a detective trying to understand your own health.

You’ve asked yourself, doctors, and other health professionals, and, yes, Dr. Google:

So far, no one has provided a diagnosis or treatment that lessened these symptoms, and you’re at the end of your rope.

The above symptoms are typical of hypothyroidism, or an underactive thyroid, which is most common in women—and we can help you treat it! (If your symptoms are related to hyperthyroidism, an endocrinology workup is likely needed; however, we can get you started on a treatment plan while you wait for a referral.)

Your thyroid issues can be treated with thyroid hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and holistic support!

We’re ready to team up with you to find a solution.

You may be familiar with hormone replacement therapy (HRT), a way to regulate hormone imbalances that often applies in peri- and post-menopausal women.

Thyroid hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a similar concept- but, in this case, it’s designed to treat hormone imbalances due to an under- or over-active thyroid—and get you feeling amazing again.

Our holistic approach to treating thyroid issues ensures that your nutrition, sleep, and stress management are fine-tuned for optimal hormone (and thyroid) functioning!

Frequently Asked Questions

Symptoms of thyroid dysfunction can relate to almost every bodily function—so the list is long. Check out this blog post for a list of symptoms associated with hypo- and hyperthyroidism.

Standard thyroid treatment follows a conventional medical approach, focusing on diagnosing and treating thyroid dysfunction based on standard laboratory ranges. The primary goal is to bring TSH and thyroid hormone levels within the “normal” range to alleviate symptoms.

On the other hand, thyroid optimization is more holistic and individualized, aiming to optimize thyroid function rather than hit a “normal” range in lab results. This approach considers many factors, including symptoms, quality of life, nutrient levels, and overall health. It involves a more comprehensive testing approach and integrates diet, exercise, stress management, and sleep optimization into the treatment plan.

We’ll begin with a comprehensive evaluation that includes an initial consultation, detailed lab testing, and symptom assessment. Based on your test results and symptoms, we may adjust your medications, supplements, and dietary recommendations. Part of your personalized treatment plan will include exercise guidance, stress management tools, and sleep optimization resources. Over time, we’ll track your symptoms and adjust as necessary as time goes on.

While results may vary depending on whether you’re doing medication and/or lifestyle and diet changes, you can start feeling better and seeing improvements within a few weeks. For most patients, thyroid function will usually start to improve within several months.
This depends on the cause of your thyroid hormone imbalance. If you have a permanent thyroid condition, you may need to take medication for the rest of your life. But, if your thyroid dysfunction is temporary or mild, lifestyle changes and holistic approaches might reduce or eliminate your need for medication. Your healthcare provider will work with you to determine how long you’ll continue taking medications to optimize your thyroid function over time.
Diet plays a big role in thyroid health because the thyroid gland relies on certain nutrition to function properly. For example, iodine is essential for the production of thyroid hormones, and deficiencies can lead to hypothyroidism. On the other hand, certain foods, like those high in goitrogens (e.g. soy, cruciferous vegetables) can interfere with thyroid hormone production if consumed in large quantities. A balanced diet rich in key nutrients is crucial to maintaining optimal thyroid function.

Yes – especially for those with thyroid imbalances. Because the thyroid gland regulates metabolism, imbalances can lead to a slowed metabolism, which leads to weight gain. By pairing thyroid HRT with lifestyle changes, metabolism can improve, making it easier to lose and maintain weight.

The answer to this question depends on the severity of your symptoms and your treatment plan. In general, you’d follow up anywhere from monthly to annually.
Stress has a huge impact on thyroid health by disrupting the balance of hormones in the body. Chronic stress triggers the release of cortisol, which can interfere with thyroid hormone production. Managing stress through techniques like mindfulness, regular exercise, and adequate sleep is crucial to healthy thyroid function.

No – payment is due at the time of booking. We are a cash-only practice; health insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid are not accepted.
